Our next Friday Night Thing (FNT) moves back to the familiar surroundings of the Greenbrier Ridge Clubhouse Friday, January 25th! The featured event of the night will be watching an appropriate movie which will highlight issues with families of origin. Following the movie, we will have a lively discussion of what we saw and how it relates to what we have been learning in Kevin Huggins’ latest teaching series, “If Jesus Ruled Our Relationships”. We ask everyone bring a snack or two liter drink to share and a few dollars for when we order pizza.
More details to come as they are made known on the Soul Purpose Group page on Facebook.com and at soulpurpose.fefc.com. For more info on how to connect with Soul Purpose in cyberspace, please go to the SoulPurpose.fefc.com web page and click on the “Get Connected” tab and follow the links. See the FNT flyer for directions. Greenbrier Ridge Apts. Clubhouse is located at 3920 Lonas Road. (From the church take Middlebrook Pike like you are going towards Western Avenue. When you get to the get to the intersection of Middlebrook and Ed Shouse, go through the intersection and then turn right at the next traffic light at Lonas Road. Once on Lonas, you will pass the South College campus on the left. The next left after South College is the entrance to Greenbrier Ridge. Upon turning into the complex, take the first right and this will take you towards the clubhouse.)

Soul Purpose’s new Tuesday night mixed small group study called Gateway, continues this Tuesday, January 15th. People interested in joining this study are encouraged to talk to Deb Bates, Cade Long, Robert Mitchell, JanaRae Martin, David Kendall or Elissa Pusser - or just show up. Gateway will meet from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. here at the church in Room #2 of the Modular Building in the west side parking lot of the church. The Gateway study is designed to serve as a gateway for newcomers to Soul Purpose to form deeper relationships with other group members and with God.
The text for this study will be the book, “The Life You’ve Always Wanted” by John Ortberg. The book is on “spiritual disciplines for ordinary people.” and should l be very relevant and foundational in helping us develop skills that will deepen our relationships with God.
Everyone is encouraged to get a copy of this book and start reading ahead for each class. You can find this book online at abunga.com (the new Christian alternative to Amazon.com) or Christianbook.com, a.k.a. Christian Book Discounters. Please note that each week is designed to stand alone, so you do not have to attend each week to get something out of the study. While reading ahead is encouraged, it is not necessary, so please do not let lack of a book or not reading ahead keep you from coming when your schedule permits!

This week a tragic apartment fire took the life of Jennifer Johnston. Jennifer, or Jenny as she was called, attended Fellowship Church and also visited YAM a few times around the middle of 2007. For anyone interested in going to her receiving of friends, it is from 5:30PM-7:30PM Saturday, January 5th at Rose’s Mortuary near Central Baptist Bearden, with a memorial service to follow, led by Fellowship’s Brad Hobbs.
Please pray that through Jennifer’s death others might come to eternal life through Christ Jesus. Soul Purpose will be sending flowers in the name of the Young Adult Community Group at Fellowship Church. Also, please pray for her family in this difficult time.
